The Festival
The Pravets Film Festival was started by a Fulbright Scholar in 2019 to provide Bulgarian high school students with the first national competition to enable process-based learning and creative expression. Its mission is to provide a platform for talented students to showcase their work and recieve support from professional filmmakers from around the world.
In 2025, as the Fulbright Scholar in Pravets, I coordinated the entire festival and welcomed 200+ students from across Bulgaria.
I coordinated:
- Registration and film submissions for 29 teams across the country
- A panel of 10 international judges, including recruiting, training, and aggregating scores
- Logistics for the two-day festival, including venue, catering, honored guests, press releases, and travel management
- An exclusive trip to Nu Boyana Studios, the largest film studio in Bulgaria – students visited sets and learned about educational and professional opportunities at the studio
- A partnership with Aleko Konstantinov Foreign Language School and the Municipality of Pravets
- Grant funding from the America for Bulgaria Foundation and Fulbright Bulgaria
- Digital marketing plan to promote registration and attendance, including the website and social media platforms
